Papers, 1776-1974 (bulk 1834-1923).

Genealogical notes, obituaries, and newspaper clippings concerning members of the Anderson, Hobson and de Graffenried families comprise about half of this collection. Sermons, 1971-1974, preached at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Richmond and collected by Sally Archer Anderson Hobson (b. 1881) account for another third of it. The remainder includes correspondence, 1834-1890, of Joseph Reid Anderson (1813-1892), proprietor of the Tredegar Company, and of his son-in-law, Edwin Lafayette Hobson (1835-1901). Correspondence, 1865-1923, of Edwin's wife, Fannie Archer (Anderson) Hobson (1846-1939), discusses the family's history and commemorates her husband's Civil War service in Alabama.
